History of Beulah Christian Baptist Church
Beulah Christian Church’s humble beginning was a bush arbor on Pulleytown Road. The first church building was founded in 1887 near Mitchell’s Pond, a room lit by kerosene lamps and heated by a wood stove. May 1932 marks the first service at the present Mitchell Mill location.
In 1940, wings were added and a new pulpit installed. Growth encouraged the addition of two more classrooms in 1944. Heating, a piano, and new pews were installed in 1950. The membership grew and by 1959, more classrooms were needed and built. In 1962, the church was greatly improved by adding stained glass windows and at this time the decision was made to brick the church. In 1968, a well was dug, and bathroom facilities were completed in 1970. The fellowship building was built in 1975 and bricked in 1978. In 1979, the baptistery and steeple were added, and the pews were covered. The picnic shelter was built in 1982.
The last service in the original building was held February 10, 1985, due to the infestation of termites. The first service in the new church building was held March 9, 1986. The American and Christian flags were installed in 2013.
Today, Beulah Christian Baptist Church is more beautiful than ever with its original stained-glass windows still on each side of the old church. The picture of Jesus kneeling (which once overlooked the baptistery) is now out-front overlooking passers-by. The lighted steeple can be seen for miles around for anyone seeking restitution through God’s loving and forgiving words.
